Doesn't Deserve the xxD Designation
I wrote the following letter to Canon expressing my disappointment in this camera, and they didn't even bother to reply:
I am writing to let you know of my utter disappointment with the 60D. I have been waiting for this camera to come out for nearly a year. I had assumed that it would continue forward progress for the series in every way, plus allow me to ditch my HD camcorder by offering autofocus while filming. Instead, there is one nice new feature (video with articulating screen) coupled with a body that is a total letdown. Plastic instead of magnesium construction, slower fps, no AF microadjustments, no increase in AF points, no autofocus when in video, no flash sync socket!?!? A few additional megapixels don't really get me excited.
Now Nikon releases their D7000 which is superior in every aspect that I really care about for only $100 more. In my opinion it is superior to the 7D because it offers autofocus while filming! Plus it is $400 cheaper! I'm honestly thinking of selling my Canon gear and switching to Nikon.
If you want to get me to part with my hard earned money, you need to get me a bit excited about a purchase like this. Instead, the 60D just makes me sad at the effective end of the xxD series.
